Warshaw(16 minutes) Mohammad is a crane operator working in Beirut. One morning he volunteers to take on one of the tallest and notoriously most dangerous cranes in Lebanon. Away from everyone’s eyes, he is able to live out his secret passion and find freedom.  Dania Bdeir (Writer/Director) is an award-winning Lebanese writer & director, based between Dubai and New York. She received her BA in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut and holds an MFA in directing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

 

Far West (9 minutes) Two men, Jack and Russell, head out to the desert in search of a mysterious briefcase that they hope will change their lives for the better, only to discover their motives may change the journey for the worse. Grace & Emily Potter (Writer/Director/Producer) are writer/director siblings from Austin, TX. They live and work in LA and Austin. Far West is their debut narrative short film.

 

For Love (13 minutes)  A couple battle for a future where they can find a home and freedom that is not determined by where they're from. Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor(Writer/Director) is a producer and writer whose recent work includes the highly acclaimed Blue Story, written and directed by Andrew “Rapman” Onwubolu. In 2019, she was nominated for “Breakthrough Producer” at the BIFAs. In 2020, her company Joi Productions was awarded a BFI Vision Award, and Joy was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. She currently has projects in development at BFI, BBC Films and Film4.

 

Soft Animals (3 minutes) Two ex-lovers cross paths at a train station. Renee Zhan(Director/Animator) is a Chinese-American director and animator from Houston, Texas now based in London. Renee's short films have screened and won awards internationally including Annecy, TIFF, SXSW, and the Jury Prize for Animated Short at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Her work explores a range of topics such as body, nature and sexuality. Renee uses a wide range of techniques in her work that have a tactile feel, breathing life into the audience’s senses. From hand drawn 2D to watercolor and claymation, she expresses something new and pushes boundaries on each project.

 

We Should Get Dinner (10 minutes)  After their parents divorce, ex-step-siblings Abby and Sean are forced to confront if they were ever really family. Lexi Tannenholtz (Director/Producer) (she/her) is a producer in NYC. She is currently in post on Chestnut starring Natalia Dyer with Robert Schwartzman’s Utopia Films executive producing. She is also in production on The Stay for Shudder. Other work includes 2021 FX series The Dream, Eagle winner of HBO’s 2020 Urbanworld Fest and Chris Gethard’s docu stand-up special, Half My Life on Amazon. Eliza Jiménez Cossio (Director/Writer) (she/her) is a chicana writer and actor, currently writing for Fred Armisen’s This Fool (Hulu) and Taika Waititi’s Our Flag Means Death (HBO Max), previously One Day at a Time (Netflix) and Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas (HBO). 

Clare (12 Minutes) At a high school talent show, 17-year-old Clare tries to confront her teacher over a private matter, leading to unexpected consequences. Lauren Minnerath (Writer/Director/Editor) is a writer and director of films and television.  As a writer she has appeared on the Young & Hungry List, placed second on the the 2018 Hit List and is a two-time Nicholl semi-finalist, placing among the top 10 highest scoring women from the 2019 competition. She has been supported by The Gotham Film & Media Institute, SPACE on Ryder Farm and the Jacob Burns Creative Culture Fellowship.

 

Aspirational Slut (14:38 minutes)  A newly heartbroken woman, on the advice of a pizza guy, learns to separate love from sex and over a series of wild random hookups, she learns to put them back together. Caroline Lindy (Writer/Director) grew up in NYC and earned a B.A. from Kenyon College, after which she moved to LA to pursue her passion for filmmaking. She has written and directed various projects including short films, web series, music videos, features and commercials. Caroline won a grant in 2019 from Women in Film to write/direct a short, Your Monster, now being developed into a feature by Merman Productions. She was a recent finalist in the
